To get or not to get.... stitches that is

(Shirt reads: My Parents are Exhausted)
On with the show.
Yesterday evening - Ben was crawling up on the couch with me.. and somewhere between turning around and actually sitting down he spontaneously flipped back and hit his head on the coffee table. Ben NEVER REALLY cries unless something is REALLY wrong, and let me tell you - he was bawling last night. We checked - panicked - and tried to be rational adults b/f whisking him away to the hospital for stitches. It turns out the gash in the back of his had stopped bleeding fairly quickly, and the hair matted it closed (grin). So no big deal right?!
Today we attended Trista's 16th birthday party at Coco Key water resort and we had a pretty darn good time swimming, sliding, and floating.
Then this evening - Ben finished his supper - decided to let Tally clean his plate - and while running to put his fork in the sink - slipped. I just knew I was going to find a fork in the eye. THANKFULLY that wasn't the case. One screaming boy - but the fork just punctured his lip in a few places. Again - Do we get stitches or not???? We passed YET AGAIN on going to the hospital because the holes inside his lip weren't too bad. (I'm sure I'm making it sound worse that it really was - please don't be alarmed.)
Pete seems to think Ben just really likes his booboo bunny. B/c tonight when I was trying to use a washcloth with ice while my son was bleeding he pushed me away and ran to get BooBoo Bunny... and told me "No mommy use this one"...

Arkansas Weekend
We headed down to Arkansas this weekend and Ben had lots of play time with Gammy and Papaw.
We left our dogs at the kennel.. and Ben went with us to drop them off..when we got back in the car he couldn't understand why Bailey and Tally weren't coming with us. We got home and he asked if they were coming home, and without thinking it through I quickly popped off a "no"... and the tears started... Oh Lord, it was as if I just gave away his puppy. He cried and cried, as we tried to explain that they would be back in a few days... He finally calmed down and was ok with the girls staying with "friends".
When we left Gammy and Papaw's he started to cry again, he had such a fun time he didn't want to leave. It was the sweetest thing ever! In order to keep the tears to a minimum Gammy reminded Ben that we can now go pick up Bailey and Tally, and that's what he talked about the entire drive home. This morning sleepy head did NOT want to wake up, and was crazy grumpy. Gerry the giraffe came out to play and he loved on him and squeezed him and sniffled. When I asked him what was the matter, he told me he missed his gammy's. **heartbreaking**
This afternoon I picked him up from school and he reminded me it was time to go pick up our girls. He was ready for Bailey and Tally. We arrived at the Humane Society and the girls saw us and started yelping with glee.. and Ben was hollaring back at them. Problem was - they were still in the kennel/run and they were supposed to have had baths this morning. So he was REALLY mad at me when we left there with OUT the dogs... How cruel of a mom am I!? Seriously, he just wanted his puppies home.
We're going back at 4pm to pick them up - CLEAN - which is VERY important after a stay at the kennel.
I'll be sure to capture the huge smiles from one little boy as he plays with his favorite dogs this evening.

Happy Valentine
I thought we would try to be a little more crafty with Valentine this year rather than buying the little cards.
So Ben's classmates get these cute little bags that we ironed on their names and inside will be a cookie, that Ben helped make, and a finger puppet that we sewed together this evening.

Now I have to help Ben make his dad something.... eek...
Happy Valentine Everyone! We hope you all have a bright lovely day.

cookies
Yesterday Ben had to help me make cookies for 'school'.
Pete found a really good recipe online, and Ben helped mix by "spinning the bowl" (even though it spins on its own). Then he helped "clean" the beaters.. and after it was all clean - he even let Tally take a turn at "cleaning" it.
We cut some hearts for valentine, and we cut some moons b/c they are Ben's favorite (they taste better you know). We even ditched the cutters and cut out some Ben hands, and made little cookie bugs.
He loves to bake, especially when it includes thinks like cookies and icing.
