Happy Friday

Today it seemed like Ben had finally came out of the funk. It's been a long week of sickness between him and Pete, and my just-occurring sore throat.
Ben is saying a few more words - and parroting A LOT.. pete and I are amazed all the time now.. and crushed...
For the past few weeks.. I kept telling Pete that Ben was saying "mammy" instead of mommy... and saying it A LOT.. just over and over and it was really strange to me - b/c he calls me 'mom' not 'mammy' -- and then just yesterday we finally listened to what he was saying over and over and over.. and figured out that his 'mammy' is his lamby. Yeah - he doesn't want mom -- he wants lamby -- so Thanks for that Aunt Laura! I made sure today I went to Wal-mart and stocked back up on our lamby supply - we seem to have been running low.. only 1 spare at the house. We try to keep Lamby Sr. in the house, so backups are essential.
In other news - Ben and I went for a walk - and he slammed his head against the sidewalk -- He didn't cry though.. he's pretty tough I guess. His nose bled for a bit, he has a ridiculous goose egg on his forehead, and a pretty scratched up knee.

Biker Boy

Ben has decided to share his nasty cold with his Dad.. so now there's two icky, whiny, snotty boys running around the house. The cutest thing is to hear Ben say "mommy" with his nose plugged up.. it makes me giggle...
I have to give props to Pete tho, yo... *too much idol*... He sucked it up and went bike riding with us this afternoon... I thought it wasn't too terrible.. until we turned around to come home and the wind was hitting us straight on.. I thought my legs were going to fall off b/f I could get home.

Ben's New Day Care

So... Ben started at his new day care this week. It seems like a pretty decent place.. Ben seems to be fitting in very well -- We dropped him off at breakfast time yesterday and again today, and Jenn picked him up around lunch time. He ate there, and seemed to be having fun playing.

Today, when Jenn picked him up , there was a kid that didn't look so happy sitting across from Ben at lunch who wouldn't eat. The teachers noticed he wasn't eating/didn't look so well -- so they took his temp and found him to be at 101.. Of course now this evening Ben is all snotty, is feeling miserable, and his temp is rising... ugh...

Two days of day care and already sick -- in the past 19 mo. Ben's only been sick maybe 3-4 times... go figure.

Jenn here - Before Ben started feeling really rotten we were able to go outside and enjoy the 78 degree SPRING day... A few pics are on his site --
Here is a pic of Sheldon (I finished knitting today) and Ben giving Sheldon shoogs

St Patricks Day 2007

This morning we convinced Dad to get his butt out of bed.. and started the journey of Camper-Retrieval. On the way - Pete was 1/2 awake.. or 1/2 asleep (whichever you prefer) OBVIOUSLY NOT DRIVING and came up with this CRAZY video idea.. If anyone has the newest Weird Al CD and listened to track 11 you've been warned.. otherwise.. you have lots to look forward to...
Happy St Patty's Day... Stay safe, call a cab.

Pics of Ben and dad working in the camper.. trying to install the "fourth wall" to "contain" ben..

"There's Paw"

We were just watching the evening news, and they had the weather report where they show the weather as reported by various volunteer weather watchers. (Typically older, gray haired balding men...) As they showed the picture of each of the, Ben pointed to the TV and said "There's Paw"..

(Paw is his name for Shorty, and is also what he says for pictures of "grand-PA" and "um-PAH")

Random blogger strikes again

Swimming part 2: Last night we actually made it to swim class, on the right week, right day, and right time. We all had fun. The instructor tells everyone ok.. today we are going to .... (yesterday was work on kicking).. and then we basically play for 30 minutes.. and tried to get Ben to kick.. he did pretty well..

We purchased a new bike for Pete -- and since the weather had been nicer.. we've gone for a few evening treks.. Ben's chair is attached to my bike .. so I usually pedal him out.. and after we turn around to head home.. I switch and make Pete pedal him home.. it's surprising how much he adds to the back of the bike.. and sucks going up hill!

Today - Ben helped me plant some seeds so hopefully we can have a garden this year.. I gave up on him staying clean.. and encouraged him to get dirtier... he is a boy after all.. and boys are pretty icky..

Using the 'Throne' - Do's and Dont's

So it's pretty exciting.. the last two days Ben has let me know he needs to use the potty. *It's more like I seem him straining and ask him if he needs to go.. he shakes his head yes and says "potty" - but whatever - roll with it*
Yesterday went great-- he actually did the majority of his business sitting and I tried to amuse him with as much praise as possible *until I realized I had to clean it up*
Today - same thing - we ran to the bathroom - undressed -- and he sat till he was bored.. but nothing.. so I let him play for a bit butt naked and occasionally he would sit back down.. but again nothing.. So I ever so briefly walked to the kitchen and upon my return stands my little guy legs spread and a big ole terd on the floor.. NICE.. But he did finish up on the potty... and again I wanted to puke when I had to clean it.. But he's so proud when he gets up and sees it there.. **proud mom** That's my boy! proud of poop.

Swim Lessons

A few weeks ago we signed Ben up for swim classes.. and I received the post card in the mail last week saying he was 'enrolled' and dates and times for the classes.. I promptly scribed those dates on the calendar and off we went.. Today I gathered all our things and had everything ready for class early so that when Pete came home from work we wouldn't have to scramble.. We were excited to see how Ben was going to react to the pool..
We showed up to the gym, snaked our way through the mob of waiting parents, and asked the receptionists where we were to go to get ready for class.. and head on our way.. A few seconds later she chases us down and tell us we were one week too early.. NICE! eh.
So - there we have it.. a 'dry run' of sorts to get to class... The good news is, we now know that we will need to leave the house by 6:30 in order to be there in time, and shower before entering the pool...
