Pirates

Ben's birthday is sneaking up pretty fast.. and We've been talking about what kind of cake to make this year.. Not that anything will be as cool as the BenAir cake last year...
Ben thinks maybe a Pirate cake, a waterski cake, a shark cake or a stegosaurus cake would be fun...
So today (since the boat trailer is still being worked on and no lake for us) we all made mini pirates.. and here are the results..

Fourth of July

We did our annual explode-athon.. and Ben gets the Highlight magazine... so we all made the silly hats and colored them... But for the most part we didn't have a lot of excitement -- We visited with Nanamom and Pa while Matt and Jenn blew up firecrackers...

shirt and tie

Pete was putting on a shirt and tie today (not something in his normal attire at work) and Ben sees him and says: "Daddy are you going to look like Papaw?"

We laughed at his relation to clothes and people.

safari: here and there

It's been crazy here yall.... a total safari... little Jenn started her job last week and is working every evening during the week.. and the kids' Nanamom and Pa showed up on Monday. LOTS of FUN! @@ and LOTS of firecrackers!

This afternoon - we planned a quick trip to the Wildlife Safari.. (a first trip for everyone)... It wasn't as great as one I've been to in TX.. but it was pretty cool... Here are a few pics that we took as we drove through the place... We saw lots of elk and buffalo... We were also able to see 2 of the gray wolves.. very pretty!

The baby elk was standing right near the road - and I knew it was something NanaJan would LOVE to see!

A white buffalo! He was all alone on one side of the road.. kinda like the black sheep I guess..
