Memorial Day

Tonight at supper we ate outside, and after sitting down Ben got up, told us bye, and walked back in the house. The entire time we were objecting to his actions, but he was not being bad, he was polite and we weren't sure what to do until..... He walked back outside with a 'hat' (aka green Tupperware bowl as seen in video) on his head, climbed back in his chair, and proceeded to finish supper with us, the entire time wearing his 'hat'.

THAT'S MY BOY!!!

I think I sold our jet boat today.. (well it took all weekend on the phone but..) I show it/test drive it on Wednesday, so we'll know for sure then. It's sad b/c it feels like the end of an era for us. We took it out today and pete made sure it was running well, and Ben and I even had a chance to ride for a bit. But the wind was ridiculous, the people at this particular crappy lake were blatantly drinking alcohol and it started raining, so we didn't stay out long. I forgot my camera at the house, so I'm quite disappointed we don't have finale pictures on the water. However, we spent over 2 hours cleaning it up this evening and a few more hours planned for tomorrow, so we will have some pictures b/f its all over.

baby birds

I went down this afternoon to try to take a few pictures of the baby red birds.. and instead I had my tower buzzed by one torqued of daddy bird.. I did manage to see that all three eggs have hatched and they were mighty hungry...
Here's their daddy bringing food after I left... (and hid)..

wanna play flop lip?

Thanks nanamom

Ben's Nanamom sent him an umbrella -- she thought it would go nicely with his wellies...

Random blogger take 4

Ben has been doing really well at 'school'....He seems to be learning a lot from there, b/c 1/2 the time he tells me things (as much as a 21mo old can).. and I'm shocked he knows..

I now have 2 baby birds in my nest... the momma isn't leaving much.. and I don't want to disturb so I haven't been able to take more pics.. they are cute little alien birds tho..

I must be counting to ben enough... Today he wanted me to do something.. and he said.."MOM -- blah blah blah... - ONE (pause) TWO (pause) THREE"
I was in the store.. and it made me giggle.. b/c it completely sounded like that 123 parents (good god that's me now) do when kids are in trouble.

Ok - happy wednesday!

Red Birds

Ben's blog -- yeah yeah yeah -- whatever..

Red Birds are my favorite birds right... and last 2 years ago I just about had a fit when I found a red bird nest in my clematis vine that needed to be pulled down b/c the privacy fence was going up.. Fortunately the eggs hatched and the family moved out b/f I had to tear it down...

This year - they came back! and they made a home in my forsythia. I noticed it last week when the female flew from the bush and startled me. Then it was just a nest... last week it was 3 eggs.. today -- I have a baby red bird!

Fremont Camping

This weekend we loaded everyone up and took the camper and new boat out to the lake... We thought it would be a great weekend, great weather, great boating. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
After dropping the boat in the water I headed back to the campground and pete drove the boat around.. it died 3 times getting there.. So after tinkering with it, and it dying several more times... we pulled the boat out Saturday prepared to drop a few hundred dollars to get it fixed.. and be with out this boat for a week or so.. (but we still have the girly boat - so all hope isn't shot)... Instead.. we get to the boat mechanic place and 30 minutes, $5 can of goop, replacing a filter we already had.. and a tip for the guy since he didn't charge us labor... we were headed back to the lake so pete could clean the carbs and holy cow it worked.. and we had a great time.. never convinced Ben to get on his ski... but it's still early..
Ben enjoyed seeing the trains, birds, and boats.. oh - and he found the moon last night.. and refused to sit anywhere he couldn't see it.. He did get his first real band-aid worthy "ouwie"

Easter video finally finished

forgive the delay...

Happy Monday

Today - after 'working' for the entire 2 hrs.. I took ben shopping for plants.. and then we stopped by the park to feed the ducks....
Instead we saw a lot of these.... After walking around -- we didn't find ducks.. but found two of these...

So I gave Ben bread to 'feed' the quackers...
Instead -- he wanted to give it to me..

After I refused his tempting treat -- he then picked a piece off the ground - and upon my command of yelling NOOOOOOOOOOO stuck it in his mouth, turned to face me and said.. 'ummy' - I then proceeded to vomit a little..

Maiden Voyage

We finally brought our new-to-us boat home Friday. It's strange to see two boats at our house...The boys tinkered with it in the drive way for a while.. and today we played musical recreational vehicles... It was quite amusing to us.. but I'm sure it looked a little hillbilly... We had to rearrange things so we could get the camper out of the garage and take it to storage.. so the n-t-u boat will fit. It was windy and stormy today so it was a good day to run around. However, by the time we got to Fremont - Pete had to drive by the lake just to see.. and it was pretty nice -- so all the way home.. he was plotting against me...
Sure enough there was a lull in the storms so we hitched up and drove back to Fremont. I was for SURE I would NOT get in the water today, but Pete made me take a suit and wetsuit just in case.
Pete showed me how to handle the boat.. and jumped right in for the first kneeboard and wakeskate runs of the year. Ben loved it.. Definitely a ben boat! He sits well in the spotter seat.. and I wasn't wigged out like I thought I would be.. He really enjoyed the boat.
I not only skied i kneeboarded from the tower.. and then skied again.
A quite impressive pull from the boat. And after all the fears of the blazer not being able to handle towing.. the blazer did fantastic!
So - everyone must come up at least once this summer and enjoy the mastercraft with us.

Making choices

I think it might be a little too early to let Ben pick out his own clothes -- what do you think.. but oh how he loves these boots..
