We went shopping and Trish took Ben to the quarter machines... First we were freaked b/c we knew we would never again be able to pass these things up with out a fight from Ben wanting to ride them.. Then we thought she was crazy b/c she actually rode them with him..

Guess this is one of the pros for being small in height..

Howdy yall! So we made it to Texas -- yeehaw.. right?
Friday we left Omaha at 830AM and we piddled around DFW until "the kids" got out of school.. and we all went to watch Lil Jenn's basketball game. Then after a long day of traveling we made it a little longer by driving all the way to Hawley.. And BEN did great for having to sit in his car seat or be still all day!
Yesterday we all went to town and went bowling. Bowling was great.. mainly b/c I won.. but it wasn't hard, I played with "gutter ball gang"...
Today we played hide and seek and had a blast with the kids.. Ben was having fun showing the "seeker" where the "hiders" were hiding..

This last weekend went by fast.. I wish we could say we were just bumming around.. but we weren't..
Saturday night we received over 8 inches of snow!!.. so Sunday we played and played and sledded.. We had a couple with 2 kids come over and the kids had a great time.. At least Ben did.. it was fun to see!
Ben started saying a new phrase Saturday - "Get Down"... He is constantly climbing on tables and couches.. and we are repeatedly telling him to "get down".. So to Pete's surprise, when he saw Ben on top of the dining room table.. Ben looked him straight in the eye and said "get down" and started climbing down, b/f Pete could say anything.. HMMM.. sounds like a trouble maker to me!
We took the girls to the vet today.. and all is well.. They don't seem to think anything serious about Bailey's lump on her tummy, or the knot on Tally's leg.. And even though Tally's eyes are fogging over, its just old age.. 9-1/2! can you believe she's 9-1/2! When the nurse took Bailey for blood work.. we heard her yelp and Ben had a look of terror in his eyes.. and ran to the door and started banging on it.. I don't know how I let him become so attached to her..
We leave Friday to go to Texas! I think Cowboy Tyrone is going with us.. so everyone can listen to "...all the way to Texas where the Hoe Down folks expect us.." the entire trip..

Tonight we gave Ben some chocolate milk instead of juice .. and you know that sound that everyone makes when being a smarty pants when something tastes really good.. *lips smacking* "mmm....ahhhhh" -- that's the one.. He made the noise after EVERY SINGLE sip..

Today Ben was admiring the photos we have on the sofa table.. So I grabbed one and asked him to point to Daddy.. and HE DID! I was shocked.. then Mommom and again HE FOUND ME.. So I named everyone in the photo from Aunt's 80th birthday.. and the only ones he could recognize and say was Umpah, Grandpa (which also came out as 'mpah) and dad and mom.. I quickly grabbed more photos and overwhelmed him with faces and names.. So maybe soon we can have a video of Ben showing/telling us who's who..

The count down begins..

in 13 days we are going on a cold weather break to Texas. We haven't been since August.. and Ben misses everyone (yeah it's Ben, I swear)... Just hoping the weather warms up down there before we arrive..
Note to grandparents: Prepare the houses, hide the breakables!

Hide and Seek

Last night - Pete and I were busy with supper and straightening things up around the house.. you know - letting Ben play free.. Well the next thing we know it's quiet.. And there's always trouble when it's quiet.. So we started looking for him and he's nowhere around... Not in the kitchen, living room, dining room.. We look in the dog kennels b/c he likes climbing in there and shuting the door for some reason..So we run to his room and no ben.. Not in his closet (where he likes to hide out) NOWHERE.. Now it's almost a panic.. We check down the stairwell - THANKFULLY no ben there.. We start calling out for him.. and very softly we hear "mama"... So again.. I hollar BEN.. and we hear.. "hehehe"... YAY! So I know he's still in the house.. but we can't find him anywhere.. MY HOUSE IS NOT THAT BIG! I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOSE ONE CHILD! .. UNLESS... He hides in the pots and pans cabinet and closes the door.. and LAUGHS about it!.. The little terd.

anybody else notice the Ohio band played the theme from the Titanic for halftime? I guess that about sums it up -- their ship's sinking fast...

If you saw the previous post -- you know we purchased Ben a new play toy... and after playing with it for like, oh I don't know, 30 min.. he rediscovered his exersaucer that was tucked between the wall and the barely-used treadmill... Nice of us to buy him new toys.. right?!

Kangaroo Climber

Today we took Ben to the mall to play in the indoor playground.. after playing in the sea of balls.. and going upstairs and playing in the foam campfire ground.. and accumulating massive germs.. we decided we would stop by Toys R Us on the way home and pick up some balls to play with.. the balls turned into a Kangaroo Climber.. Christmas one day a year HA -- It's Christmas EVERY day..
